There's not much in the old budget, for people who need hope at the moment. The uplift in Universal Credit for the foreseeable future is fantastic, but people need more permanently, not just for this week, month or year. We don't need a crisis budget, we need a realignment budget, and I think Anneleise Dodds came up with the right response to it yesterday, but tax rises will help raise money and Labour should support them. Politics is confusing at the moment, and I am confused as much by it as anyone else, but this is ridiculous. It's certainly a far cry from last year's budget.
